150 Kv Baasrode – Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde

In 2022, Elia already removed an existing high-voltage line (70 kV) between the Baasrode (Buggenhout) and Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde (Dendermonde) substations. The high-voltage line had reached the end of its service life and was taken out of service.

In February 2023, Elia will start preparatory work for the construction of an underground electricity cable (150kV). This underground electricity cable connects the high-voltage substation in Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde with the high-voltage substation in Baasrode. These works are necessary to prepare the region for the energy transition. In this way, Elia can continue to guarantee its energy supply in the future.

Due to the complexity of the joint construction and its impact on the road infrastructure, AVALON L+E was appointed for technical support during the implementation phase and to reconcile the wishes of the road authorities with the implementation modalities.
