Neerwaasten - Wevelgem 150 Kv

The existing overhead high-voltage line (70kV) between Neerwaasten and Wevelgem is almost at the end of its lifespan and will be taken out of service in the future. To replace it, Elia will lay a new underground electricity cable (150 kV). With this increased voltage level, more electricity can be transported. This is necessary to prepare the electricity grid for the increasing energy demand in the area. As a result, Elia can continue to guarantee a reliable supply of electricity for businesses and citizens.

Following the construction of the new underground electricity cables and modifications to the 'Neerwaasten' and 'Wevelgem' high-voltage substations, Elia will be able to start demolishing the existing overhead high-voltage line (70 kV) between Neerwaasten and Wevelgem.

AVALON L+E guides and supports ELIA in the restoration of roads and landscape for the area above the newly installed cable. This is based on a high-quality, cost-efficient and sustainable solution for the environment, whereby the repaired infrastructure can remain untouched during the operating period of the cable.
